Heating Benefits of a Polished Concrete Floor

Polishing concrete has become a popular choice for people who have a hard surface that may need to be tiled otherwise. It can be done over a plain concrete, or it may be the concrete that it is made using special oxides and aggregates.  The floor is heated using electricity and water heating methods.  Now the floor can be heated using passive solar gain, and this is taking advantage over the high thermal mass of concrete.  Since concrete is dense, when it has a good design, it will allow concrete to be cool during summer and to be warm during winter.

The high mass of the concrete offers great thermal property. The concrete floor will not change the temperature dramatically as it happens with tiles.  Using passive solar design incorporated into the concrete floor will provide a more comfortable home.
Polished concrete will reflect the lights, it reduces cost in the commercial area, and it improves natural lighting.  The polished concrete floor will not retain dust mites and dust, and it is good for people who suffer asthma.  Polished concrete cost less especially in the place where the concrete floor is already installed. Even if a standard concrete floor looks great when it is polished, a polished concrete can be made to look unique regarding the aggregates, oxide, and grind.
If you want polished concrete floor, talk to a builder on board about how to polish your floor. Great care has to be taken for planning the crack control, to place the saw cuts and to reduce cracks on the key location in order to reduce the stress that happens during the drying shrinkage.  It is important to plan everything before polishing the floor.
If you want to polish a new floor, you have to be careful on how you install it.  You have to make sure that there is an even distribution of the aggregates whenever possible.  When a concrete is placed, it has to be cured, and this normally takes place in 7 days.  After 14 days, you can grind the floor, and this is when the frames had been erected.   It is better if you ask that the grinding starts in certain areas to see what happen.  After grinding, the floor has to be covered to protect it from any staining.  After grinding, the builder may suggest that you use a temporary sealer on the concrete. The carpet and plywood can stain the concrete, so you have to be extra careful.
Before the construction is completed, the builder may grind and seal the floor. The concrete has to be ground in order to avoid any defects, and it is then filled using a slurry coat.   The sealing can be done with epoxy and urethane.

Before polishing concrete, you should talk to a concrete contractor who is going to use his own experience in order to place the concrete in the manner that will offer a uniform appearance.  After the polishing, there may be some variations with the finish because some materials may have impurities like wood, coal, and iron.
