Industrial Painting Terminologies you Need to Know

The industrial painting has become part of our daily lives. There are so many companies specializing in the field. Industrial painting contractors in Ohio professionals are specialized in industrial painting services. There are different terms used in industrial painting, and it is nice to update your brain. Below are some of the terms.

Acrylic
This is a synthetic polymer that is used in high-performance latex or the water based paints. Acrylic resins enable the coatings to last longer and retain the color as the paint binder. Acrylic latex paint is the water thinned paint that employs acrylic resin as the majority of the binder. Other binders that may be added so as to reduce cost or add specific properties include epoxy, styrene, and poly-vinyl acetate. 100 percent acrylic latex paint, on the other hand, is the water thinned paint in which the acrylic resin is used to the binder medium; the highest quality latex paints typically used for a wide variety of coatings. 100 percent acrylic latex has superior adhesion, breathability, long term flexibility, toughness, resistance and color and sheen retention. The Acrylic resin are resins that have established a pre eminent position among other coating formulators that have shown superiority in such respects as gloss and color retention, oxidation resistance, hardness, alkali resistance, adhesive and cohesive strength and also overall film durability. Generally, the resins that result from the polymerization of derivatives of acrylic acids and they include esters of acrylic acid, acrylonitrile, methacylic acid and their copolymers.
Adhesion
This is the ability of dry paint to remain on the surface without flaking, blistering or cracking. This is probably the single most important paint property. Wet adhesion is the ability of dry paint to adhere the surface irrespective of the wet conditions. It is particularly important for the exterior house paints.
Airless spraying
This is the process of atomization of paint by forcing the paint through an orifice at high pressure. This effect is often supported by the vaporization of solvents especially when the paint has been heated previously.
Alkyds
These are resins that are often used in trim paints inside and outside. Some marine enamels and medium duty equipment employ these resins as binders. Alkyds resins are found in vehicles that employ aliphatic hydrocarbons most often as thinner. Alkyds cure to a relatively durable film and offer good leveling, but they tend to yellow interior and embitter with age. Gloss and color exterior is only fair, and they are highly prone to failure exterior on the surfaces containing moderate moisture levels. The alkyds are chemically synthetic resins that are formed by the condensation of polyhydric alcohols with polybasic acids. Alkyds may also be regarded as complex esters.
Binder

These are substances that cement the pigment particles into a uniform paint film, and they also make the paint to adhere to the surface. The amount and nature of the binder may determine most of the performance properties of the paint, toughness, adhesion, wash ability and the color retention. The Acrylic polymers are binders of choice in the production of high-performance quality latex paint used by industrial painting contractors in Ohio
